“Each of Kat's pieces, a reincarnation, bringing new life, new beauty, to what has been let go of...”
Kat Jacobs has been a student and creator of various art mediums for the past three decades. She has studied in both private studio settings as well as with the Maryland Institute of Art. Today, Kat's focus is on the creation of large-scaled, highly textural, wall hangings created with the use of cruelty-free, ethically sourced, natural and animal derived textiles. Following the birth of her first child, and closing a decade long chapter of doula work where Kat honored and guided women and families throughout the childbirth process, Kat was inspired to begin her journey with textile art, both as a cathartic release and an exploration into her own unique individual technique with these mediums. Kat's pieces are both bold and elegant, rustic and modern with ornately and precisely designed symmetry that is delicate and ethereal yet embodies strength and a gregariously female essence. Also a writer, Kat designs each of her pieces with sentiments that can be felt within each unique design, and which she often elicits in short prose. She is an emotional philosopher; an enthusiast of all things mad and she credits the hand work of textiles in supporting her deeper understanding of humanity and grace.
